FOCA advocates for healthy lakes and rivers, and is the voice for Ontario’s 250,000+ waterfront property owners. FOCA effectively serves and represents Ontario’s lake associations, waterfront property owners (WPO) and waterfront communities through education, communication and government advocacy. FOCA envisions thriving and sustainable waterfronts across Ontario, now and for future generations. FOCA operates under a governance board structure, and directs strategic priorities through a number of Committees that report to the Board of Directors. FOCA’s priority goals for 2021-23 are:
The Coalition of Haliburton Property Owners' Associations (CHA) is a member-driven group of approximately 50 property owners' associations, representing more than 120 waterbodies and 15,000 shoreline properties from across the geographical limits of Haliburton County, in Ontario Canada. Its mission is to create synergy through sharing best practices, effectively studying common issues, developing common solutions, recommending county-wide policies and influencing outcomes. Member associations always remain autonomous. The CHA is a registered non-profit corporation managed by a Board of Directors and volunteers.
The Coalition for Equitable Water Flow (CEWF) is a volunteer organization formed in 2006 to represent the interests of the more than 30,000 Ontario taxpayers who own residential shoreline property on the 35 reservoir and 20 flow-through lakes within the Haliburton Sector of the Trent River watershed. The primary goal of the Coalition is to promote integrated water management across the entire Trent River watershed to ensure safe navigation, access to waterfront property, economic sustainability and the avoidance of negative environmental and economic impacts on the RAFT lakes. The CEWF promotes shared information and understanding of water management issues and practices through its website (CEWF.ca) and through presentations to lake associations and other groups. CEWF liaises with appropriate federal, provincial and municipal authorities as exemplified by TSW/Parks Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. The operations of CEWF are handled by a 9 person Executive Committee which speaks for CEWF in dealings with TSW and with Municipalities. Membership in the Coalition is open to Lake Associations, or equivalent organizations, in the Sector. In 2016, there were 32 member associations in CEWF representing 91% of the reservoir water storage in the Trent-Severn Waterway (TSW) system.
